Total E&P Bulgaria signs an agreement for a drillship

Total E&P Bulgaria has gone a step further in the preparation of its oil and gas exploration drilling campaign in Block Khan Asparuh. On 1 September 2015, after a competitive tender, Total E&P Bulgaria signed an agreement for the provision of Offshore Drilling Services.

The rig selected is the Noble Globetrotter II (“GT II”) owned by Noble Drilling Holding LLC. This is a latest generation Dynamic Positioning drillship that started operating in 2013. It has a Dual Derrick Multi Purpose Tower that allows simultaneous operations and is adapted for easier Bosphorus straight bridge passing. The GT II is currently in West Africa after having recently drilled a well in the Black Sea. The GT II incorporates modern drilling technologies and has an excellent safety record. The rig is expected to start drilling the first exploration well POL-1 between mid-February and May 2016.

The signing of the rig contract is a milestone for the Khan Asparuh project.
