The First National Forum for Energy education in Bulgaria was held on 14 May 2018. The event was co-organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University and the Industrial Cluster “Srednogorie”. Rectors, professors and students from Bulgarian universities met managers of several important international companies in order to share successful partnerships and initiatives. The main topics of the Forum were “Business, education and innovations” and “Energy education as sustainable development model”.

In the first session of the Forum, Vassia Nikolovska, Legal and Corporate Affairs Adviser of Total E&P Bulgaria, presented the company’s vision, experience and future programme for social and educational initiatives – training for students, interactive presentations about energy in schools, donation of high-performance equipment to a laboratory, refurbishing of class rooms.

Together with other the participants from Shell Bulgaria, Schneider Electric, CEZ Bulgaria, AES Eurasia, Solvay Sodi and ContourGlobal, they discussed the needs of the academic institutions, the primary and secondary schools as well as how the business responds to those needs on regional and national level. To achieve better results in energy education the managers recommended integration of the most recent technologies in the educational process and encouraged the teachers to be proactive and to propose projects in this domain.
