AZALT
The AZALT® series is suitable for the production of most asphalt road materials:
- Hot asphalt mixtures
- Polymeric asphalt
They are mainly produced by the distillation of selected crude oils. In 2011, TotalEnergies began supplying customers with AZALT ECO®, which reduced mixing and application temperatures by about 40ºC.
MODULOTAL
MODULOTAL® bitumen is suitable for the production of high-grade mixes for use in pavement and its reinforcement.
When used in proportions comparable to those of asphalt concrete, the hardness of these mixtures results in a strong and slow level of work, which allows for a significant reduction in thickness.
Advantages of MODULOTAL:
- Saving materials
- Good resistance to deformation
- Good track resistance
STYRELF
Total Styrelf® is the result of a 30-year partnership between TotalEnergies and the French “Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées” (French Laboratory for Roads Administration). It is constantly evolving to meet today's requirements (processes, products, applications).
Total Styrelf® is produced by cross-linking thermoplastic elastomers in bitumen.
The performance of Total Styrelf® has made it the ideal binder for heavy-duty roads (heavy traffic, harsh climatic conditions, etc.). Over the years it has become a worldwide recognized brand: more than 20 million metric tons have been sold worldwide.
Originally developed as a binder for surfaces, the success of Total Styrelf® has led to the adaptation of the technology to produce binders for use in bituminous mixtures and emulsions.

KROMATIS
Through its continuous effort to improve safety and contribute to quality urban living, TotalEnergies has developed the KROMATIS® series of binders.
The use of KROMATIS® reduces lighting costs and energy consumption, improves dangerous perception and provides overall aesthetic improvement.
The TOTAL KROMATIS® series offers a wide range of colors for asphalt applications, including:
- Tunnels
- Parking lots
- Bus lanes, bicycle lanes, pedestrian zones
EMULSIS
In Preston, UK, TotalEnergies produces a series of bitumen emulsions (unmodified and polymer modified grades) within the EMULSIS® series, mainly used for surface work. This is a more advantageous method that provides the desired slip / skid resistance and improves any deterioration of all road types.

AQUALT
AQUALT® bitumen can be emulsified industrially for standard mixtures.
The high quality of the AQUALT® series is the result of a specific selection of crude oil.
AQUALT® is used in the production of bitumen emulsions for road use, as well as for bitumen joints for many uses, especially in the maintenance of road pavement.
- Surface treatment
- Impregnation
- Cold asphalt mixtures can usually be stored
- Gravel emulsions
BITUMEN FOR THE INDUSTRY
In addition to road construction and maintenance, bitumen is also used for many other applications due to its special properties - water resistance, cohesion, elasticity and durability.
Bitumen can be used for the following applications:
- Waterproof membranes
- Construction of barges, water tanks
- Waste retention
- Industrial carpet tiles
- Insulations, sound insulation, gluing
ALTEK
ALTEK® bitumen is specifically designed for use in polymer modified waterproof membranes and other insulating membranes.
With the ALTEK® series, our refineries produce bitumen specifically formulated to meet the PMB's elasticity, adhesion, cohesion and durability for roofing membranes and other insulating materials.
STELOX
STELOX® is manufactured by the air-blowing process, which gives these products the following qualities:
- Low temperature sensitivity
- High viscosity
Among other industrial uses, the STELOX® series is mainly used for waterproof applications:
- Production of roofing membranes / felt
- Use of membranes in workplaces
The STELOX® series is also used as a liner for industrial carpet tiles.

COVREX
COVREX® is bitumen produced by blowing with air at high temperatures. The result is a material with a much higher penetration index.
This product is used in the industrial sector: inks, varnishes, mineral rubber. It exhibits much lower temperature sensitivity and a "firmer" structure at room temperature.
