A new seismic acquisition campaign starts in Block Han Asparuh

Total E&P Bulgaria B.V. has hired Shearwater GeoServices for seismic acquisition operations in the Black Sea

The operations start in mid-March and are expected to last about 80 days. One of the largest seismic vessels in activity worldwide, Oceanic Vega will sail and cover an area of 5580 square kilometers in the Eastern part of Block Han Asparuh.

“These seismic operations are in line with our objective to explore the full hydrocarbon potential of Block Han Asparuh. The collected deep-water 3D data will be processed, using the capacity of Total’s Pangea III, one of the most powerful supercomputers in the oil & gas industry.” explains Denis Lemarchal, General Manager of Total E&P Bulgaria.

Pangea III can process huge amounts of data at higher resolution and help the exploration teams to more reliably locate hydrocarbons below ground.

Total E&P Bulgaria remains focused on operating responsibly, safely and efficiently offshore Bulgaria.
